Introduction
Pergola Pain Points
Sunlight, rain and mildew turn pergola timbers grey and splintered. Replacing beams is costly; solvent stains can drip and smell.
Why Lacq Produra Is Perfect
Its vegetable-oil emulsion clings even to vertical or overhead wood, penetrating deep and drying fast. Flexible protection resists UV and moisture without peeling.

How to Stain and Protect a Pergola
-
Prep the Area
Lay drop-sheets; prune climbing plants away. Brush off dust, spider webs and loose fibres. -
Light Mist & Dry
If beams are hot, lightly mist with water and allow to surface-dry; this prevents flash absorption. -
Stir & First Coat
Mix Produra. Use a long-reach flat brush or mini-roller; apply a thin film following beam length. Work systematically to catch drips. -
Wait 6 h
Produra flash-dries quickly; touch-dry within an hour, re-coatable after six. -
Second Coat
Apply a second thin coat. For horizontal rafters or south-facing pergolas, a third coat boosts UV life. -
Clean-up
Rinse brushes/rollers in water; dispose of rinse responsibly. Replace climbing plants after 24 h.
