Introduction

Why Exterior Wood Needs Extra Defence

From sideways rain to blazing midsummer sun, British weather batters sheds, cladding and verandas. Unprotected boards grey quickly and start absorbing moisture—leading to swelling, splitting and premature replacement.

Why Choose Lacq Produra

Unlike solvent stains that smell harsh and peel, Lacq Produra combines vegetable oil with water and minimal solvents. It penetrates the fibres, leaves a translucent colour layer that flexes as the wood moves, and lets moisture escape—so no trapped water, no flaking film.

How to Stain and Protect Exterior Wood

  1. Clean & Dry
Brush off cobwebs, dirt and loose fibres. For algae or mildew, wash with a fungicidal cleaner; let dry fully.
  2. Minor Prep (Optional Sand)
Only necessary if you want a furniture-smooth look. Otherwise, just ensure the surface is dust-free and moisture is below 18 %.
  3. Stir & First Coat
Mix Produra thoroughly. Using a flat brush or roller, apply a thin, even layer along the grain.
  4. Wait ≈ 6 Hours
Produra is dust-dry quickly; at 20 °C you can recoat the same day.
  5. Second Coat
Apply a second thin coat for full colour and UV defence.
Tip: Add a third coat to horizontal or very exposed areas (barge boards, window sills).
  6. Cure & Enjoy
Light use after 24 h; full hardness develops over several days. Your shed or cladding now boasts years of flexible, weather-proof colour.
