Introduction

Challenges of Hardwood Finishing

Hardwoods are naturally oily and dense. Traditional solvent stains often sit on the surface and flake within months, while heavy sanding or harsh cleaners can dull the grain.

Why Lacq Produra Works

Lacq Produra’s vegetable-oil & water emulsion travels deep into tight grain, bonding from within yet remaining breathable. A translucent, flexible film follows the wood’s movement, delivering colour that won’t crack, peel or yellow—perfect for premium hardwood projects.

How to Stain and Protect Hardwood

  1. Dust & Degrease
Wipe away surface oils and dust. Use a mild sugar-soap or degreaser; rinse and let the timber dry.
  2. Stir & First Coat
Mix Produra thoroughly. With a flat brush or short-pile roller, apply a thin, even coat along the grain. Avoid flooding the surface—Produra’s high coverage (≈16 m² /L) means less is more.
  3. Wait 6 hours
Produra is touch-dry to “dust dry” in about six hours (at ≥ 5 °C). It stays low-odour, so you can work nearby.
  4. Second Coat
Apply a second thin coat for full colour depth and UV defence.
Tip: Horizontal surfaces (benches, handrails) benefit from a third coat for rain run-off.
  5. Clean Up
Rinse brushes or rollers in warm water. Close the tin firmly; leftover product keeps for 2 years if stored frost-free.
