Introduction

The Challenge of Pressure-Treated Timber

Tanalised boards arrive saturated with preservative salts. Many coatings bead on the surface or react badly, causing patchy curing.

Why Lacq Produra Is Different

Produra’s vegetable-oil & water emulsion contains minimal solvents and no reactive chemicals. After a short weathering period, it penetrates the fibres, locking colour in without lifting the factory treatment.

How to Stain and Protect Pressure-Treated Wood

  1. Weather & Check Moisture
Let new treated timber weather 6–8 weeks (or until moisture < 18 %). This allows salts to stabilise.
  2. Clean & Dry
Brush off green crystals or surface grime. Rinse lightly; let dry.
  3. Optional Sand
Scuff-sand mill-glaze if water beads. Dust off.
  4. Stir & First Coat
Mix Produra. Apply a thin coat along the grain with brush/roller (≈ 16 m²/L).
  5. Wait 6 h
Dust-dry; then add second coat, third coat for bets results.
  6. Cure
Light use after 24 h; full hardness a few days later.
