FAQ's

1. What is Coo-Var Solar Reflecting Paint White used for?

Coo-Var Solar Reflecting Paint White is an acrylic, aggregated coating designed to deflect sunlight and reduce heat build-up in roofs and internal areas. It’s commonly used on substrates like concrete, felt, brick, and wood to create a cooler interior environment.

2. How does it reduce heat build-up?

The paint’s bright white, reflective surface deflects solar radiation, significantly reducing surface temperatures. This helps prevent overheating in the building below, improving comfort and potentially reducing energy use.

3. What surfaces can it be applied to?

It’s suitable for a range of stable surfaces, including: Bitumen felt roofs, asphalt, concrete, metal, weathered roofing substrates.(if sound and prepared properly) It’s not suitable for areas with standing water or unstable surfaces like flat roofs without proper drainage.

4. How do I apply the paint?

Surface Prep: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants. Remove flaking material and sand previously painted surfaces to provide a good key.

5. How long does it take to dry?

Typically, the paint is touch-dry within 45 minutes and recoatable in 6 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. This quick drying time means you can re-coat or make adjustments sooner, minimising project downtime.

7. How long does the heat-reducing effect last?

When applied correctly, the paint provides a long-lasting, cooling barrier throughout the hot season. Reapply as needed if you notice diminished effectiveness over time or after heavy weather exposure.
